Mary Mission Incorporated

Mary Mission Incorporated was founded in 2016 in Bismarck, North Dakota by Jon and Pam Kossan.

We are a 501(c)(3) religious organization that provides for the needs of children and families of intense poverty and offers essential care for thousands of children, widows, single mothers and families in Uganda. We also care for the orphaned and abandoned children and families inflicted by the HIV/aids epidemic.

Mary Mission Incorporated is dedicated to sustainable and permanent changes. We have established a presence to the poorest of the poor in the Masaka District of Uganda by creating stability and growth by providing education, health care, and shelter.

Pam's first trip to Uganda was in November of 2014. She met a sixty-six year old widow by the name of Maurice. Maurice was taking care of eleven orphaned children who had nothing. When Pam saw this, she was committed to building a home for Maurice. The home was completed in six months with water tapped into her property. Not only did Maurice receive a four room home with bunk beds for everyone, she also received blankets and pillows and a two seater toilet with an area to bathe.

Mary Mission Incorporated was then born!

We continued to expand to the building of St. Philomena's Nursery and Primary School. Within the first two years, with the help of many volunteers and generous donors, we educated three-hundred orphaned, abandoned and poverty-stricken children.

In 2018 we completed eleven classrooms so every grade has a permanent classroom from baby class to primary seven. We have a modern kitchen with a storage room, electricity and a refrigerator!

By the end of 2019 we have over 400 students enrolled, added three more classrooms, for a total of fourteen and started construction of the dining hall. There are still needs for construction; Finish the classrooms, and dining hall as the funds allow. Our future goal is to implement a course program for the girls to sew menstrual pads. This program is in its infancy. Once the classrooms are finished we will proceed with this project!
